Lise Barbanti, Chronic Pain Recovery Coach

Hi, I’m Lise —
I help people retrain their brains and reclaim their lives.

After more than 30 years of chronic pain, I learned how to change the patterns in my brain — and now I help others do the same.

My Story

For more than 30 years, I lived in a body that hurt.

The pain moved — back, neck, jaw, wrists, tendons, sciatica — always shifting, always returning. I tried everything: specialists, physical therapy, chiropractic, acupuncture, massage, medications, injections, supplements, and a handful of alternate protocols. Sometimes something helped briefly… but the pain always found a new home.

Little by little, my world shrank as I made decisions around what might trigger symptoms. I felt confused, discouraged, and exhausted.

Everything changed when I discovered neuroplastic pain and Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) — the science showing that the brain and nervous system can learn to misinterpret safe bodily signals as dangerous. Suddenly my years of shifting symptoms made sense. I wasn’t imagining it, and I wasn’t broken. My brain had simply learned a pattern of protection that had gone too far.

And importantly: patterns can change.

Using tools from Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) — somatic tracking, nervous system retraining, and cognitive reframing — I began to relate to my body differently. Slowly, the fear eased. My world expanded again. I regained movement, creativity, joy, sleep, confidence… and eventually, my life.

That recovery is what brought me to this work — helping others experience chronic pain recovery through brain-based approaches like Pain Reprocessing Therapy.

Many of the people I work with experience symptoms like chronic back pain, neck pain, sciatica, jaw pain (TMJ), or other persistent symptoms that continue even after the body has healed.

Why This Work Matters to Me

I know what it feels like to try everything and still be in pain.

To bounce from diagnosis to diagnosis.
To feel dismissed, scared, or stuck.
To make your life smaller to avoid symptoms you don’t understand.

I also know the relief of realizing that pain can be learned — and therefore, unlearned.

There’s a growing body of neuroscience (and countless real recoveries) showing that when chronic pain is driven by the nervous system, not structural damage, it can change. That’s the power of neuroplasticity.

This short video explains the neuroscience of chronic pain and neuroplastic pain beautifully:

Pain Science Paradigm Shift

Every time I watch it, I see pieces of my own journey — and the journeys of many people discovering this approach to recovery.

I don’t believe you’re broken.
I don’t believe “pain forever” is your only path.
And your symptoms are not “all in your head.”

My Approach

My coaching is grounded in Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) and other neuroscience-based tools that help retrain the brain’s interpretation of pain signals, calm the nervous system, reduce symptom-related fear, and rebuild trust in your body.

Together, we work with:
• curiosity instead of worry
• safety instead of bracing or tensing against every sensation
• self-compassion instead of self-pressure
• gentle exploration instead of pushing through

Sometimes we even use humor — because lightness can be healing, too.

This work isn’t about fixing you.
It’s about helping you reconnect with the parts of you that already know how to heal.
